I have around 6 paintings that are about to be finished which I will get photographed and added to the website soon. In the mean time a couple of other opportunities have come up including a group show at Gallery North curated by Alli Sharma from Transition Gallery and a proposed project to create work to be exhibited at Wallington Hall, Northumberland as part of William Bell Scott’s bicentenary. Here are the Gallery North details:

Fade Away: 5th – 26th May at Gallery North, Northumbria University.

There will be a symposium and publication launch on the last day of the show, 26 May from 3-6pm with a reception afterwards.

The symposium will comprise a writer, curator and artists panel. The publication is called 'About Painting' and covers two exhibitions, 'Working Against The System' and 'Fade Away' with images, artist statements, interviews and essays.

Fade Away, which is curated by Alli Sharma, with an accompanying text by Barry Schwabsky, features paintings that oscillate between representation and abstraction. With widely diverse references and subject matter, they all share a strong material presence. Whatever the creative enquiry, they make you think about paint and the act of painting.

Some of the Fade Away artists work directly from the perceptible world; others use the representational as a point of departure into the abstract, or conversely, explore the abstract, which reveals itself as subject. The dialogue between surface and illusion, representation and abstraction performs a paradoxical balancing act where surfaces are brushed, scored, erased, layered, revealed, dripped and collapsed. Compositions teeter on the verge of illegibility where images emerge and fade away.

January 4th 2011 - Group exhibition with 'Moving Gallery' @ Barkollo

Happy new year! I will be exhibiting as part of a group show with some of the artists who had shows with 'Moving Gallery' in 2010. The exhibition should last for around a month although the end date is still be to be agreed with Barkollo. The exhibition will show a new larger scale painting of mine that is not yet featured on this website, along with paintings by Alison Hayes, a sculpture by Graeme Durant, paintings from Miles Harrison, prints by Dan Wilde and video work by Sebastian Trend and Adam Hogarth.

June 13th 2010 - Photos from London show

-Thanks to everyone for supporting 'Artworks open 2010'. I know the organiser Mark Wainwright and the judges Graham Crowley and Timothy Hyman enjoyed the show. The 2 winners are Will Turner (with 'Zz', Collage) and Pippa Ridley (with 'Hut in snow 1', oil on canvas). The exhibition continues until the 25th June.

May 21st 2010 - Revamped site and exhibition dates confirmed!

-allymorton.com has been revamped again! I have also altered the gallery system so that the images in internet explorer should no longer flicker when you hover over thumbnails.

-The current dates for my next exhibition are July 1st - July 14th. The opening is set to be Thursday July 1st 6 - 8pm. It will be a joint exhibition between Huw Dampney and I as the space is not big enough for the work of Stephen Collins also. There may a project with him in the near future though...

March 26th 2010 - Moving Gallery

-Moving Gallery opens April 2010. It's first main run of exhibitions will be artists from Northumbria University/the Newcastle area.

The preview night is Thursday 1st April 6 – 8pm with Ben Jeans Houghton – ‘On Arka’. There will be an after party in the Black Swan (part of Newcastle arts centre).

I will be exhibiting there with Huw Dampney and Stephen Collins sometime in the Summer, possibly in June or July.
